Tim's teaching emphasizes the primacy of breath and the cultivation of a moving meditative state while working towards a stable and enduring strength. He considers a good soundtrack, including silence, to be a key part of his classes as well as good humor for the tough bits. He encourages his students to practice self-compassion while on the mat and a whole-hearted approach to living beyond it.
Tim did his original training in the ashtanga/vinyasa tradition but his teaching incorporates learning from the continued study of many styles of yoga, meditation, and movement. He is certified E-RYT 200 through Yoga Alliance but has well over 1000 hours of formal training in yoga, meditation, shamanism, mantra and other approaches to human movement. He is additionally certified as a personal trainer and health coach. Tim holds a BA in English/Creative Writing and an MA in Ethnomusicology.
